MANAGER, COMMUNITY RELATIONS

 Reporting to the Vice President, Ontario, you will be part of the Community Department and collaborate with the Corporate Team in Community Relations and more globally the Community of Practices in Community Relations. You will ensure that Agnico Eagle Mines’ global and regional community relations policies, plans, standards, procedures, values, and management practices, as well as community relations processes and programs, are in alignment with these standards. You will ensure that the goals and objectives are achieved while promoting and respecting Agnico Eagle’s values, Health & Safety Code of Conduct and the environment.

  • Act as a representative for Agnico Eagle Mines, ensuring liaison and cooperation with stakeholders and rightholders;
  • Participate in the development and implementation of community relations plans;
  • Seek to establish community relations synergies between sites; 
  • Supervise consultants in community relations when required;
  • Act as a leader for the internal and external audits in community relations and ensure that Agnico Eagle Mines’ performance objectives are met;
  • Participate in Socio-Economic Impacts and Monitoring research initiatives and in any audits to ensure compliance with agreements or standards;

Responsibilities

  • Develop an implementation strategy for both Impact and Benefit Agreements (IBAs) and Exploration Agreements (EAs) with Corporate and Regional Management
  • Ensure consistency across Ontario’s different sites regarding the community relations approach
  • Ensure communication with all Community Relations teams in Ontario to ensure that community relations policies, plans, standards, procedures, values and management practices are deployed in all our sites (Exploration and Operations)
  • Develop, propose, and implement relationship plans with various stakeholders and Indigenous nations, or ensure that the Community Relations team at the site is taking this responsibility
  • Assist exploration teams in the various consultations and obtaining of different permits

Must Have

  • Degree or Diploma in Communications, Business Administration, Environment, or a related discipline/equivalen
  • Minimum 10 years of senior-level experience in stakeholder relations and negotiations, with experience in the mining industry preferred
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to handle situations with calm and diplomacy
  • Excellent written, listening and communication skills, with French language skills considered an asset
  • Experience in a cross-cultural working environment
  • Excellent working knowledge of all Microsoft Office Suite applications especially Outlook, Excel, Word & PowerPoint.

What We Offer

Schedule: 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, at our Timmins Regional Office, Sudbury or North Bay offices. Occasional visits to site may also be required
